Making Time for the Essential
Years ago, I was introduced to the concept of a ritual-calendar. Of course the idea has been around a lot longer than that; Christmas (yes, it’s coming soon), Easter and Ramadan are other obvious examples.
But what about a personal ritual-calendar? Family dinners could be on there, along with game night. As could more spiritual/intimate practices like the annual vision board or meditation.
Ahh, daily meditation, music to my ritual-calendar ears. My teacher (Baba Hari Dass) called it “Regular Sadhana,” to be done daily and prescribed it as the answer to a host of worldly and existential questions.
Still your thoughts and then you will know….
The emphasis placed on direct realization
over theoretical understanding.
What’s on your soul-filling ritual calendar? Leaf watching? Silent time by the stream? Worship the next full moon? Whatever it is, I invite you to put it in your calendar.
On that note, DYU will host our annual fall cleanse starting from Oct. 14th through Oct. 31st. It will be a wonderful chance to consciously welcome the fall season, renew vitality, and be surrounded by amazing company and support.
